British film is riding high after a remarkable 12 months which has seen British films selected for all the major festivals and winning major international awards.
This year's Cannes line-up has three British feature films screening In Competition - Ken Loach's Looking for Eric, Jane Campion's Bright Star and Andrea Arnold's Fish Tank, plus Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus will screen out of competition. UK shorts are also featured - Emma Sullivan's After Tomorrow screening In Competition, Ralitza Petrova's By the Grace of God in the Cinéfondation and Eicke Bettinga's Together screening in the International Critics' Week.
Our free events programme this year includes director Stephen Frears, producer Jeremy Thomas, distributor and UK Film Council chairman Stewart Till CBE, the making of Ken Loach's Looking for Eric, Film4's Tessa Ross, cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle(Antichrist, Slumdog Millionaire), workshops about technological innovations such as RED cameras and digital 3D and panels offering advice on distribution, pitching, funding, financing models, co-productions and more....
